While Oblivion does not break or transcend the sci-fi genre, it sets a good precedent for this year’s sci-fi films. Without spoiling the movie, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is a drone repair man stationed on Earth with his partner Victoria after a great alien invasion. In two weeks their mission will finally be complete and they can leave Earth behind for good. However, it’s not that simple for Jack, who constantly has dreams of his life before the war, even though his memory was supposed to be wiped clean.
